Learning to Bask Together
Warm light, a shared platform, and two turtles slowly settling into a new daily routine.

Finding the warm spot
One of our favorite social updates shows Jack and Charlie together on their basking platform. It looks like a simple pause, but basking is an important part of an aquatic turtle’s routine.
At first, we checked the platform constantly. Could both turtles climb onto it? Was the surface fully dry? Did they have enough room to choose their own position?
The best tank moments are often the quiet ones that show a turtle feels comfortable enough to settle.
A routine begins
As they became familiar with the habitat, the platform started to feel less like a new object and more like part of their day. Sometimes they shared it. Sometimes one arrived first and the other followed.
- The ramp needed to be easy for both turtles to grip.
- The dry area needed enough space for two small shells.
- Lighting and temperature needed regular checks.
- We tried to observe from a distance so they could relax.
Seeing them bask together gave us a small sign that the habitat was becoming familiar. It also gave us approximately one hundred nearly identical photos.
