The day everything changed
Jack and Charlie came home in a small travel container, each no bigger than the palm of a hand. Jack immediately tried to climb everything. Charlie found the warmest corner and settled in as though he had always lived there.
We thought we were bringing home two quiet little pets. We quickly learned that aquatic turtles have routines, preferences, moods, and an impressive ability to make a tiny splash land several feet away.
Tiny turtles take up a surprising amount of room in your heart.
Two very different personalities
Jack is curious and bold. When something changes in the tank, he is the first one over to inspect it. Charlie takes a more measured approach. He watches Jack’s experiments, waits for the coast to clear, and then claims the best basking spot.
- Jack’s favorite activity is rearranging the small river stones.
- Charlie’s favorite activity is stretching every leg into the sunshine.
- Their shared favorite activity is noticing the food container from across the room.
