Two Tiny Shells, One Big Adventure

Our social pages often capture Jack and Charlie in a few seconds: two tiny turtles sitting side by side, investigating a new corner, or making their way toward the water. Looking back at those early moments, it is striking how small they were.

They arrived together, but they did not behave exactly alike. One would move first while the other paused and watched. Even at that size, their different approaches were beginning to show.

Two turtles can share a habitat without sharing the same personality.

Learning who they are

Short clips are good at showing movement, but the quieter moments taught us just as much. We began noticing who approached changes first, who preferred to wait, and how often they chose to stay close to one another.

• We watched their behavior instead of assuming they would be identical.
• We paid attention to how each turtle used the water and dry areas.
• We kept photographing small changes so we could look back over time.
• We treated every new behavior as something to observe, not immediately interpret.

Their story started with two tiny shells. The adventure comes from discovering the individual turtle inside each one.
